⇓in character⇓ (THE SHORT VERSION)

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Yes, if it's IC for your character! Expect a shove, or very awkward attempt at reciprocation.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Yes, if it's IC for your character! L has some fighting ability but is a wisp of a thing. There's a good chance he'll lose.

ROMANCE/FLIRTING: Yes, but this is tough. It may be awkward. I'm cool with that.

SEXUAL CONTENT: Yes, if it's IC. That may be a long journey.

PSYCHIC ABILITIES: In Deer Country, L has Paleblood abilities, namely telepathy, dreamwalking, and warping apparent reality. I'm OK with people using psychic abilities on L. In Folkmore, L's Witch abilities carry over from Aefenglom as a CRAU, and he has some ability with divination, scrying, and dreamwalking, provided he shares a close Bond with someone.

MAGIC/POWERS: L has none in canon. In Deer Country he has Paleblood abilities. In Folkmore, where he carries over as a CRAU from Aefenglom, he is a witch with elemental ice and lightning magic, with specialties in divination and illusion. I don't mind if people use their powers on him.

MEDICAL INFORMATION: L looks tired, somewhat underfed, and like he might possibly be sick. In Folkmore, he practices blood magic so occasionally. has signs of ritual self-harm. Each of his fingers has a pale scar around the base where it was severed and then later reattached.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS OR TRIGGERS: L is generally insensitive and blunt. He's not offended by much, but will certainly react poorly and violently to being overpowered physically into doing something he doesn't want to. Force-feeding, force-bathing, and forced to have sex all apply.

L is a detective with a high threshold for criminal activity of basically all kinds; he's seen it all. He understands that not everyone has, and doesn't get off on shocking others, but he probably treats it more casually and ordinarily than most would.

In Folkmore, L carries signs and occasionally practices ritual self-harm for the purpose of blood-magic.

Occasionally in roleplay I incorporate a headcanon where L took anaphrodesiacs in his teens to better focus on his work and distance himself from a side of humanity he fears. He is not being played with this headcanon in either Deer Country or Folkmore.

BACKTAGGING: Yes

FOURTH WALLING: I prefer not to.

THREADHOPPING: On the network yes, if it's an in-person log please contact me.

CONTENT I ABSOLUTELY NEED WARNINGS FOR, BUT CAN STILL PLAY: Pregnancy loss and infant death.

CONTENT I ABSOLUTELY NEED WARNINGS FOR AND THAT I CAN'T PLAY: Sexual predation on children, any kink involving urination or defecation.

ANYTHING ELSE: Above are the short answers to these questions. If you want more detail, guess what? I wrote LONG answers. Expand Below!

+ THE LONG VERSION
⇓in character⇓

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Go for it if it's IC for your character. L isn't used to it and doesn't ever begin a game liking it, though, so expect him to freeze up a little, or a lot depending on the liberties they take. Touching an arm might get a sharp look and a slight flinch. Anything more aggressive will likely be met in kind. Keep in mind that to L, this is a one-way street; despite his own very strong personal bubble preference, he has no qualms about invading the personal space and comfort of others.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Heck yes! L will as a general rule try to avoid letting things go this far, because while he is stronger than he looks that's not saying much. He is trained in the martial art Capoeira and is good at using his small size to his advantage but he's not built to take heavy blows and could probably get pretty hurt if someone bigger than him landed one. If it does come down to it though, I'm all right allowing my character to get hurt from extents ranging from minor to fairly severe. Amputation, castration and injuries resulting in deafness or muteness are the exceptions. Almost anything else is fair game; if in doubt or it could cause long-term hobbling of my ability to play my character, please contact me so we can discuss details and timeline!

ROMANCE/FLIRTING: I'm very down for this, but your mileage might be vaguely cute at best and downright awkward or weird at worst. L is likely to assume that characters who flirt with him are trying to take advantage of him somehow and will immediately regard attempts with suspicion. If he judges attempts to be sincere, he might be off-put by a character's clearly horrible taste and/or attempt to reciprocate, to disastrously weird and creepy effect.

SEXUAL CONTENT: If it's IC I will totally play this, faded to black or onscreen! That being said I've played L for over a decade and even in sex games, even in environments where anyone who wants some can get some with tremendous ease, it is DIFFICULT to get him laid and reliant on no small amount of character and CR development. L is a very stunted and strange person who probably doesn't think of sex very typically, and has hangups about how much it can attach and expose two people in inconvenient ways. He doesn't want emotional involvement and he doesn't want to be vulnerable in any capacity with another person. That being said, he is uncommonly pure and driven in his passions and his pursuits, and he has a difficult time gauging the nuance of his own emotions. He's absolutely the sort who would probably let obsession bleed over into affection, or kindness without agenda into a crush, or blazing and entertaining intelligence into infatuation. I think he could fall hard if he felt like he witnessed truly genuine examples of goodness that cracked through his jaded cynicism, but getting to the point where he truly believes that will be an arduous journey, and might end up being stiflingly over-idealized by a man who is, ultimately, still very childish in how he thinks about things and deeply isolated and lonely.

Alternatively, be his enemy and his rival. He'll probably hate fuck you eventually if you're fun enough (emphasis on the "eventually"; again, this is a long road).

PSYCHIC ABILITIES: In Deer Country, L is a Paleblood and will eventually manifest telepathy. I'll contact you if I want him to read your character's mind! If you want to read L's mind, I'm cool with that, but given the way it's structured and organized, along with his natural paranoia and game-playing mentality, it may be a bumpy and dense road to get to what you're looking for. I'm happy to give you personalized specifics if your character wants to venture into this Winchester Mystery House of a brain.

MAGIC/POWERS: Canonly L has none. In Deer Country as a Paleblood, he'll be able to dreamwalk and bend perceptions of reality to convincing illusory effect. Please let me know if dreamwalking is OK with you, as well as what this highly creative character with a somewhat different litmus test for "disturbing content" can cause your character to hallucinate! In Folkmore L is an Aefenglom witch; he can practice defensive and offensive spells with lightning and ice, divine things through scrying, and cast and break illusion magic. He uses runes and blood as mediums to accomplish most of these things.

MEDICAL INFORMATION: L professes at one point in canon that he's stronger than he looks, and then proves it by kicking Light in the face! However, that's not saying much. He looks like there's something wrong with him physically. He's overly thin and pale, doesn't get enough nutrients or sleep as a rule, and seems to have a nasty case of scoliosis hunching his back forward. He almost doesn't look quite like an adult, as though he didn't make it to the finish line with that whole puberty thing. Although I hesitate to slap a label on a character who is not officially diagnosed as anything in canon, some fans have speculated that his behavior suggests that he's is not neurotypical, or that he has some physical characteristics of Marfan syndrome or Grave's Disease.

His teeth are probably in horrible shape, given his sugar intake.

Given how he looks and interacts with others, if you play a doctor character or a rude or blunt person or something and want to float theories, I don't mind at all. I chose this unhealthy-looking dude to play and I will play him looking unhealthy, so help me.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS OR TRIGGERS: One of L's defining characteristics is that he is relatively unflappable. The guy has kind of seen it all, and is more likely to find stereotypically shocking things tedious than... well, actually shocking. Violence, sex, death and all the rest are unlikely to faze him. The things that make him uneasy are usually innocuous, gentle, and a little too warm and human, with an undercurrent of being stifling. That's not the world he knows or the one in which he's confident or comfortable. He's also likely to react adversely to absurdly and extremely illogical things (like so illogical you must think he's STUPID or something), challenges to his pride, and adding insult to injury.

Physical proximity and contact with L can be welcome or disastrous; stray cat rules apply. He's extremely weird about food and control and will always receive sweets, fruit, coffee and tea as appreciated gifts, milk, cheese and bread as meh but edible, veggies and potatoes as a gross inconvenience, and meat as gross and threatening. The best thing you can do is prepare and present some treats nicely for him in a basket or something; the worst thing you can do is attempt to force-feed him, whether or not it's food he likes. Attempting to force him to sleep or bathe are similarly extremely negative and upsetting to him, no matter how much it's needed. L clings to arbitrary shreds of agency and routine, and even if it looks like he's hurting himself, it's his system. Helping him out of a rut like this is reliant on making him think it's his own idea.

AS FOR WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TAGGING L... he is condescending, arrogant, and abrasive. He can be an unpleasant character more often than he can be a sweet or sympathetic one. He's not the cute and shy sort of "socially awkward", or garden-variety adorkable. He's dead inside and always trying to fill that gaping hole the only way he knows how. That can be poking, prodding or pestering, because when someone is obsessed with keeping as many secrets as they can about themselves, conversations get unbalanced and nosy pretty fast. He's curious a lot; sometimes he's mean. He's a negative CR magnet and if you're not into that, I completely understand and invite you to opt-out using the form in the L-specific comment below! I'm a fan of conflict but your comfort matters a lot to me, even if it means we don't get to play!

In Folkmore he practices magic that he uses blood as a medium, which means ritual self-harm. I will warn for this content.

⇓out of character⇓

BACKTAGGING: Always! Life happens and people get busy, but completing scenes thrills me and satisfies my deep CR cravings. Even if it's been a month or more I will always be happy to get a tag on an older thread.
FOURTH WALLING: If we don't have to I prefer not to! L has enough of an existential crisis on his hands as he is without realizing he's fictional.

THREADHOPPING: On the network, go for it if it's IC! If it's a log and the characters are interacting in person, please check first; I'll probably be cool with it but wouldn't want to mess up a potentially important beat in a planned scene or something.

CONTENT I ABSOLUTELY NEED WARNINGS FOR, BUT CAN STILL PLAY: Please warn me before springing pregnancy loss and infant death on me. I'll engage with it if it features in your character's backstory, but would absolutely like a heads-up.

CONTENT I ABSOLUTELY NEED WARNINGS FOR AND THAT I CAN'T PLAY: Sexual predation on children is not and will never be my jam or the character I play. I'll engage with this subject matter if your character's trauma stems from it and it comes up in conversation, especially if it is going towards a healing arc! I'm also cool with unrequited crushes on someone smart and older but L will not reciprocate and will actively discourage the crush.

Additionally I tend to handle kink on a case-by-case basis, but I have no interest in playing kinks involving urination or defecation as a general rule.

ANYTHING ELSE:

My Discord is ladylazarus#2235 and I'm always happy to plot, and always happy to hash out details. Please talk to me if you'd like to plot around something potentially difficult or problematic and we'll see how we can make it work so everyone has fun and is super comfortable in that thread's space.
